Pamporovo, the famous Bulgarian ski resort, nests in the heart of the Rhodopes, 260 km from the capital Sofia, and 85 km south of the city of Plovdiv.
This winter, I was in Pamporovo (from Jan 8 to Jan 14) in order to improve my ski techniques.
Altitude of the resort is 1650 m.The highest point Snejanka is 1926m. It is available for skiing for approximately 150-200 days along a year. The climate can be considered as mild since the temperature never fall below – 7 C. On average 120 days in a year are sunny and the average snow depth is 140-150 cm during the season.
The Pamporovo ski resort is a good place both for the beginners and for experienced skiers. You can find tracks of all degrees of difficulty.
I strongly recommend ski lovers to visit Pamporovo before more people discover it and prices jump up to the level of other luxury ski resorts.
My 6 day journey costed 225 Euro (including HP accomodation and travel from turkey by bus). I paid approximately 15 Euro for a full-day ski-pass, and 8 Euro for ski stuff rent. Entire holiday costed no more than 500 Euro.
